A Celebration of Student Art

Most artists in the greater Concord area know the Kimball Jenkins School of Art. For over 40 years, New Hampshire artists have taken classes, participated in programs, and engaged with the Concord community here.

I had the amazing opportunity to visit their current exhibition, the Sylvia Brofos Student Exhibition, which is on view until June 12th. This exhibition features the students of Kimball Jenkins and honors Sylvia Brofos, a watercolor artist who taught at Kimball Jenkins from 2002 until her sudden passing in 2024 (at the incredible age of 91!)

Although watercolor was Sylvia’s focus, the exhibition features works from all mediums. Artists of all ages were represented, from age 2 all the way to adult students. I’d recommend visitors check out the kid’s room—it’s impossible not to smile when viewing the creativity and excitement in their pieces.

Check out a selection of my favorite works below, or learn about the exhibition here. For more on Sylvia and her incredible story, see more here.

For over a decade, The Concord Arts Market has been committed to supporting local talent. When you buy directly from the artists, you’re not just picking up something unique, you’re also helping Concord’s creative community grow and thrive. That kind of support keeps the local art scene buzzing and inspires artists to keep doing what they love. But this market isn’t just a place to shop—it’s a celebration of creativity, community, and local flair. Whether you’re a dedicated art lover or just browsing, you’ll find all kinds of spectacular pieces and get to hear the stories behind them. So if you’re in the mood for a weekend of art, culture, and inspiration, swing by the Concord Arts Market and see what New Hampshire’s Capital City has to offer.

The Best Fall Hiking Trails in Concord NH: Part 2

In our last blog post, we explored three hiking trails in Concord that are ideal for soaking in the beautiful New England fall scenery. During hunting season (September through January), City of Concord Conservation lands are managed as multi-use land. Hunting is allowed on most properties, but there are some locations where hunting is prohibited. The trails featured in this blog (and its prequel) are the best options for fall hiking if you are concerned about venturing out during hunting season.
