Red River Theatres: Lighting up Concord's Silver Screen

Red River is a nonprofit movie theatre screening the best of the independent movie scene on Main Street in Concord. Open since 2007, Red River offers a wonderful variety of films from documentaries to fiction, drama to animated film and has something for everyone: including babies with a “Bring Your Own Baby” series.

Red River often hosts movie presentations and panel discussions, inviting directors, actors and commentators to get together and discuss film making. By approaching social and political issues, it engages the audience and allow for reflection.

Special events such as outdoor movie screenings, a short film festival or the annual Oscar Party, where everyone gets to walk the red carpet, Red River brings the community closer to independent cinema.

The three screening rooms have an intimate atmosphere, and the audience can enjoy locally made chocolates, snacks, a glass of wine and delicious popcorn or snack.

Red River got its name from the 1948 western classic, in which John Wayne overcomes a series of setbacks and this ultimately serves as an expression of the Theatres’ success.
