Penuche's Ales House • 16 Bicentennial Square, Concord, NH  (603) 228-9833

Step across the patio from the True Brew, and you'll walk right into Penuche's, everybody's favorite hidden basement bar. Before it was Penuche's (or as the locals call it “the Nooch”) - it was called THUMS, which stood for Thursday's Underground Music Stage. There's even still a THUMS sign on the dimly lit walls as a tribute to the series. Although THUMS is no more, Penuche's is still offering the best local live music, and regional traveling bands most Thursday and Saturday nights. There's usually a small cover charge around $3. It's an intimate setting to see a band, and when the band is hot, a tight squeeze, but there's plenty of room for dancing!

Hermanos Cocina Mexicana 11 Hills Avenue, Concord NH (603) 224-5669

Hermanos has a TON of live music, from Live jazz every Sunday thru Thursday night, with Saturdays reserved for a mix of alternative, rock, folk, blues, funk, and jazz. From Sunday thru Thursday bands play from 6:30 to 9 pm., Saturdays the music starts at 7:30 pm. The best part? There's never a cover so you can save that cash for the amazing tacos and margaritas! This may be the only place where you can enjoy live music in Concord 6 nights a week while sitting down and enjoying a delicious Mexican meal!

Pit Road Lounge 388 Loudon Road, Concord, NH  (603) 226-0533

The Pit Road Lounge is considered a hidden gem by local music lovers. Most people tend to stay downtown when figuring out where to grab a drink, some food, and maybe listen to a little live music. Loudon Road is just full of the big box chain stores, right? Wrong! While the big stores are out there, so is the Pit Lounge! You'll find plenty of pool tables, great grub, cold beer, and live local music here every Friday and Saturday night.

Area 23 • 254 North State Street, Concord, NH  (603) 219-0856

Area 23 is a pub that serves craft beer, cider, liquor, and wine along with great pub fare. If you love to play darts and enjoy a cold brew, make sure to check out their five dart lanes. If you also want to check out great local artists, Area 23 has an Open Mic Night Wednesdays at 7 pm, the best in live local music on Fridays at 8:30, a weekly jam session every Saturday at 2 pm, and live music twice on Saturdays at 6 pm and again at 9!

The last two venues are larger live music venues and places to catch national artists. The Concord City Auditorium and The Capitol Center for the Arts

Concord City Auditorium • 2 Prince Street, Concord, NH (603) 228-2793

This historic auditorium in the heart of downtown Concord features all different types of entertainment, from theatre and dance to musical artists of all kinds. This city-funded arts venue has been producing shows since 1904 when it was first built on the western side of city hall. If you love classical music, the Audi hosts Symphony NH concerts.

Capitol Center for the Arts • 44 South Main Street, Concord, NH  (603) 225-1111

The Capitol Center for the Arts is different than the other venues listed here. It's way bigger and plays host to regional, national, and internationally recognized artists like Joan Baez, Lyle Lovett, and his Large Band and Gov't Mule. The Center has various stages where you'll find artists performing a wide variety of music from Zydeco to funk, jazz, and folk.
