Real Estate: So you want to move to Concord, NH

So you want to move to Concord, NH.  Who could blame you?  Friendly people. Good schools - public and private. Great restaurants - from awarding winning barbecue (a couple of those) to authentic Indian, excellent Chinese, and pizza - lots and lots of pizza places (and don’t worry, there are also some great high-end dining options and pub-like establishments with a great variety of food. But where to live?  If you’ve never spent much time in our fair city, you’ll need to know locals break the town down into: the West End, the South End, and the Heights.  (What happened to the East Side of town? Well, that’s a story for another day - but don’t worry, it’s not like something out of Stranger Things).  Concord’s West End is home to the beautiful White Park. Homes in this part of town are a little closer together and a little older - unless you’ve looking to live on Auburn Street, home to the world renowned Halloween Street party (learn more about that here -    ) and bigger, pricier homes.  Concord’s South End has homes on a little bit more land and a little news.  It has its own park and offers some great New England charm.  The Heights offers single family homes, an sprawling apartment complex nestled back in the woods, and lots of shopping options and chain restaurants.

But if you’ve read this far, you really want to know about Concord’s real estate market. Well, there’s good news and bad news.  The good news is that Concord is an amazing place to live (did I say that already?), and interest rates are at historic lows.  The bad news? Lots of folks want be just like you and move here. So inventory - be it single family homes, duplexes, condos, etc., is incredibly tight. And this means prices throughout the region are high - and seem to keep getting higher.  But don’t worry, with the right real estate agent, you can still find the house of your dreams here.  A good agent will have insight into what’s coming on the market, what’s worth the money, and what’s not. And a good agent will help you be on the lookout for sellers testing the market instead of really looking to sell.

One last bit of advice.  You’re probably familiar with the old mantra that all that matters in real estate is ‘location, location, location.’ Well, I suggest, at least for the Concord market, you adjust the mantra to ‘location, location and patience.’  If you can wait, and if you have the right agent, you’ll find your dream home in Concord and come to love the town as much as those living here do.

Until next time, when we’ll hear some words of wisdom from one of Concord’s most highly-regarded real estate brokers, good luck, stay healthy and stay safe!
