5 Unique Winter Experiences You Cannot Miss

winterfun

A visit to Concord normally conjures visions of political tours, hiking and apple picking. Concord is a great summer and fall town. Hey, but there is no need to skip winter, as we have skiing, snow sports, ice skating, and sledding – all fun outdoor escapes.

We have all kinds of winter activities, not to mention heated igloos with a city view for dinner. Here are a few of our must dos.

Learn to Ski at Pats Peak,

Set just 20 minutes from the city in Henniker NH, Pats has weekday adult ski and snowboard clinic programs for skiers & snowboarders. These Weekday Lesson Clinics are great for anyone with flexibility to take time off during the week.

The Weekday Adult Clinics include professional lesson clinics with the Pats Peak Snowsports School, a morning half-day lift ticket and lunch. This is all included for less than the cost of a Half-Day Lift Ticket. Adult Clinics can be taken Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday mornings starting January 4, 2021 until the end of the season.

Dine in an Igloo

Cheers Restaurant right downtown has new outdoor seating in a set of igloos on their large patio. Cheers is reserving the igloos in 2-hour blocks. Customers can dine inside the domes for up to one hour, 45 minutes. Between meals, the staff wipes down all the surfaces and disinfectants and sanitizes the igloo. Diners can reserve an igloo by going to the website or by calling Cheers at 228-0180.

Enjoy the open fields for Nordic skiing

The NH Capital City is home to several groomed cross-country (Nordic) ski trails at White Farm, Carter Hill Orchard and Beaver Meadow Golf Course. All are free to the public.

Beaver Meadow Golf Course offers Nordic trails that are maintained by the City of Concord. White Farm and Carter Hill are groomed by the Capital Ski and Outing Club. The trails are groomed for both skate and classic Nordic skiing.  White Farm on Clinton St. offers skiing access to trails that are well maintained.  The trails loop through Langley Parkway and circle through fields. The terrain, perfect for beginners, is flat, with some small rises.

Get your skates on

The City’s Everett Arena on Loudon Road offers ice-skating through mid-March.
