Getting Ready for the Capital Arts Fest!

The festival hub is located in front of The League of NH Craftsmen’s weekend-long juried craft fair on Concord’s South Main Street. Much like the organization’s annual Craftsmen’s Fair at Mount Sunapee Resort, it will showcase works from the League’s many talented artists and artisans. You will find woodworking, painting, sculpture, photography, jewelry and metal arts, glass, fiber arts and much more at the many booths that will line Main Street.

The Capital Arts Fest is back and ready to celebrate the best the New Hampshire arts community has to offer. With events planned throughout downtown and at a number of satellite venues, there’s plenty of shopping, shows, and dining to explore. Here at the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce we are excited to see this much-loved event take shape again.

Events are currently posted on the Capital Arts Fest webpage and more will continue to be added as we approach the festivities, held September 24-26, 2021 in and around Concord, NH. As of now, we have scheduled more than a dozen live shows, multiple craft fairs, and are working with locally-owned shops featuring the work of authors and artists from around the region.

Downtown Concord: The Center of It All

The festival hub is located in front of The League of NH Craftsmen’s weekend-long juried craft fair on Concord’s South Main Street. Much like the organization’s annual Craftsmen’s Fair at Mount Sunapee Resort, it will showcase works from the League’s many talented artists and artisans. You will find woodworking, painting, sculpture, photography, jewelry and metal arts, glass, fiber arts and much more at the many booths that will line Main Street.

From there, you can visit the shops or stop for a bite at one of the many spots in downtown. Catch one of the outdoor shows, join an improv class, or listen to bluegrass and rock in the Capitol Center for the Arts beer garden. Whatever your artistic medium, there’s an event for you at the Capital Arts Fest.

Engaging the Regional Arts Community

What makes the Capital Arts Fest unique is its many locations. This year, the festival has partnered with a number of arts organizations, schools and museums to offer events and exhibits that truly capture all of what Concord has to offer.

Just outside Concord, Canterbury Shaker Village will host an Artisan Market with live music, food and hand-made crafts. This ticketed event is located on the village’s beautiful historic grounds and is a wonderful way to see the rural side of the Capital Region.

About the Capital Arts Festival

Five years ago, the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce, Capitol Center for the Arts and the League of NH Craftsmen came together to launch the Capital Arts Fest. One part arts festival, one part community celebration, the event featured a newly redesigned Main Street after a multi-year improvement project.

The event brought people into the downtown to listen to live performances on Main Street, stroll the artists booths and enjoy food at our many great local restaurants. Partnering with the League of NH Craftsmen, a juried organization that includes artisans recognized nationally as “the best of the best,” ensured the event would feature the state’s top artists and artisans, drawing people from around the region.

This year, we are getting ready to celebrate safely, with COVID-19 precautions and recommendations in place for the safety of all visitors.
