The Dog Days of Summer

It’s hot out there! We teamed up with Poppy, Visit Concord NH’s resident Ambassadog, to recommend some of her favorite summer activities to help your four-legged friends beat the heat.
As the adage goes, April showers bring May flowers… but this year it decided to bring even more rain. Even if the weather isn’t ideal, there is still so much to do in Concord to beat the gloom! Read on to check out some drier options you can take advantage of this Spring.
See a show at the Capitol Center
With two great venues downtown, The Capitol Center for the Arts regularly puts on spectacles with something for everyone. Patrons can watch a program at the original Cubb Theater or the nearby Bank of NH Stage, where more intimate events and shows take place.
If you’re a fan of movin’ and groovin’, check out events like the Swing Dance Night at the BNH stage, where you can get active without worrying about the weather.
Visit the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center
For those interested in what lies beyond, the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center is your destination for all things out-of-this-world. Stop by to visit their many exhibits, or sit back and watch a show at their planetarium. Families with little ones can take advantage of the center’s child-friendly atmosphere and family programs and shows.
Grab a brew
Even if the sun isn’t out, the sky is still lighter later – and the warmer nights are a great opportunity to experience Concord nightlife. Consider visiting Concord Craft Brewing Co. for a local specialty or flex your knowledge at 2025 Pinnacle Award Winner Feathered Friend during one of their Wednesday Trivia nights.
