Spooky haunts in Concord

It’s the season to explore haunted locations, uncover old legends, and discover spooky secrets. New England is full of haunted stories, but you’ll especially love visiting Concord’s historic downtown area. The charming scenery, colorful autumn leaves, and cozy shops and restaurants create the perfect Halloween vibe. Recently, City of Concord Councilor Jennifer Kretovic led a spooky tour of the city, hosted by Intown Concord. We’ve highlighted a few locations from this evening walk. You can watch the full video, recorded by ConcordTV here.

Capitol Center for the Arts

New Hampshire’s largest indoor theatre holds many spooky stories. This haunted tour explored the Kimball House, which is the Victorian mansion connected to the theatre. CCA staff hear slamming doors and voices when no one is around!

Bank of NH Stage

This modern theatre (that features retractable seating and an upstairs lounge/bar) used to be the site of a bakery that supplied bread to Union soldiers. Now the space holds the fleeting smell of baked goods late at night.

Eagle Square at night.

Endicott Furniture Company

This landmark business has been part of Concord since 1925! (Learn more in our blog about the store.) But most visitors don’t know this beautiful store is home to a mischievous spirit that throws pillows at night!

Hilltop Consignment Gallery

This antique store holds countless items with fascinating stories and histories. But that’s not the only spooky thing you might find in the gallery. There have been sightings of mysterious figures, and people have heard whispering noises, especially in the basement of this shop.

This is just a sampling of downtown Concord’s haunted locations. Explore the city yourself to discover many more rich legends and creepy tidbits! When you visit downtown Concord, download a copy of our Historic Walking Tour to get the most history out of your visit.
