The Best Ice Cream Spots Around Concord

Few things say summer in New Hampshire quite like a stop for ice cream. After a full day paddling a lake, strolling downtown Concord, hiking a nearby trail, or visiting one of the region’s attractions, the Capital Region offers plenty of sweet ways to cool off. Check out our recommendations for local favorites that serve up memorable treats all season long!

Social Club Creamery · 138 North Main Street

Just steps from the New Hampshire State House, Social Club has quickly become one of downtown’s favorite destinations. The shop features scratch-made, small-batch flavors and inventive monthly specials that make every visit uniquely different.

Our suggestion: It’s no secret we love the Gooey Butter Cake, jam-packed with chunks of cake in Social Club’s famous vanilla base. Be sure to grab a sharing-sized cookie as well!

Granite State Candy Shoppe · 13 Warren Street

A true New Hampshire tradition, this family-owned downtown institution has been crafting chocolates and serving premium ice cream for generations, making it the perfect place to enjoy a cone while exploring Concord’s historic Main Street district.

Our suggestion: Try building your own sundae! With over 30 unique toppings to choose from, you can craft a towering creation fit for royalty. Don’t miss out on the shop’s homemade chocolates either!

Frekey’s Dairy Freeze · 74 Fisherville Road

Looking for a classic roadside ice cream experience? Frekey’s has your fix. Known for its wide selection of both classic and soft serve options, you can’t go wrong stopping along your way – or making a dedicated trip.

Our suggestion: We love the Cherry Blossom flavor – don’t let the name fool you, it’s the deep fruity experience similar to a beloved ‘Garcia’ that a national brand makes.

Arnie’s Place · 164 Loudon Road

Another longtime Concord staple, Arnie’s Place pairs its famous burgers and barbecue with a variety of ice cream options, making it a perfect  stop for both dinner and dessert. You’d be hard pressed not to see a swarm of eager customers ready to treat themselves on a warm evening.

Our suggestion: If you want a hit of nostalgia, Darryl’s Blueberry Pancake is like the perfect breakfast on a cone!

Richardsons Farm · 170 Water Street, Boscawen

Some consider Richardsons to be a hidden gem of the region. Homemade ice cream made from farm-fresh ingredients makes this stop worth the trip. If you find yourself indecisive with all the tasty options, you can always get a flight to sample them all! Heads up – this stand is cash only.

Our suggestion: You can’t go wrong with Strawberry Rhubarb… it’s quintessentially New England and equally delicious!
